Transforming Bioengineering Research with AI and Machine Learning

As the field of bioengineering continues to evolve, researchers require innovative tools to optimize experimental design, analyze large datasets, characterize complex biological systems, and identify knowledge gaps. AI and machine learning are emerging as transformative tools poised to revolutionize bioengineering research. These models are driving advancements in drug discovery and design, nanoparticle formulation optimization, biomaterials and device development, medical imaging analysis, diagnostic strategies, tissue engineering, and more. The Institute for NanoBioTechnology’s 18th Nano-Bio Symposium, Transforming Bioengineering Research with AI and Machine Learning, will explore the immense potential of integrating AI/ML with scientific expertise and human creativity to propel bioengineering breakthroughs.

Registration is now open and closes Monday, April 28. Registration for the poster competition is capped to the first 75 posters registered and closes Monday, April 21. No late registration for the poster competition is allowed.

All activities will be on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus in Levering Hall. The lectures are in the Arellano Theater, the poster competition and reception are in the Glass Pavilion, and breakfast, lunch, and mid-morning refreshments are served in the Great Hall. We recommend dressing appropriately for the Arellano Theater as it can be cold in the room.

Maps, directions, parking, and shuttle information to the Homewood campus are here. The South Garage located under Mason Hall is the closest parking garage to Levering Hall.

The INBT hosts a poster competition with award categories for undergraduates, graduates, and postdoctoral fellows. Interested participants should read the competition guidelines and FAQs before and after they register.  Registration is capped to the first 75 posters registered and closes April 21. To register for the competition, use the same link as general registration. The registration form will ask if you want to compete in poster competition. Once you click yes, a new series of questions will appear regarding your poster. We do not require you to submit a poster abstract. The Arellano Theater is located on the ground level of Levering Hall. Enter Levering Hall on the ground floor on the south side of the building. Enter Levering Kitchens and proceed down the hall until you exit the dining hall and arrive at a T-junction. Make a right and doors to the theater will be on your left. If you make a left at the T-junction, another set of doors to the theater will be on your right. To access the Glass Pavilion and Great Hall, exit the Arellano Theater and make a left. Go down the hall and the elevator is on the left. Enter the elevator and go up one level. Exit the elevator and make a right, which will puts you in the Glass Pavilion. Continue through the Glass Pavilion and down the hall to the Levering Cafe. The Great Hall is located on your right (behind Levering Cafe).
