Sangmoo Jeong is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (primary) and Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (secondary), and a core member in the Institute for NanoBioTechnology at Johns Hopkins University. His lab is interested in how metabolic dysfunctions link to major diseases, including cancer. His lab focuses on developing technologies to detect metabolic biomarkers and/or dysfunctions and identifying the underlying mechanisms.

Jeong received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Korea and a master of science and a PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He completed his postdoctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School with Ralph Weissleder, MD/PhD and Hakho Lee, PhD, and later, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center with Kayvan Keshari, PhD.

Jeong is a recipient of the NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00), Hollis Brownstein Research Award (Leukemia Research Foundation), and the NIH Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (R35).
