Kalina Hristova is a professor who holds joint appointments in Biomedical engineering, at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Materials Science and Engineering, and the Marlin U. Zimmerman Jr. Faculty Scholar at the Whiting School of Engineering. The main focus of her laboratory research is the structure and assembly of biological membranes, particularly transport and signal transduction, and developing new tools to study the energetics of biomolecular interactions in these membranes. Dr. Hristova joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2001. She received her B.S. and M.S. from the University of Sofia in Bulgaria and her Ph.D. at Duke University.
