mini symposium 2012

POSTDOCTORAL – The Institute for NanoBioTechnology at Johns Hopkins University invites individuals who have recently earned a PhD or MD to apply for our postdoctoral training positions.

Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available immediately in the Johns Hopkins Individualized Health Initiative (InHealth) for a project to develop clinical tools for quantitative assessment of patient mobility and pressure ulcer risk from the load cells in hospital beds.  Promoting patient mobility is recognized as being important in improving outcomes and reducing readmission rates. For patients with low mobility, assessment of how long they have remained motionless, how often they have moved in bed, and how often they have left the bed provide important information on recovery and risk for pressure ulcers.   The project will involve analysis of the output from bed load cells in response to specific movements in the laboratory, identifying categories of movement, developing algorithms to relate movements to clinical scales for mobility and pressure ulcer risk, and performing clinical trials.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, biomechanics, or related discipline, and experience in programming and algorithm development.  All candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as a strong publication record.

Candidates should preferably be a US citizen or permanent resident.  The position is in the Measurement Corps in the Johns Hopkins Individualized Health Initiative.

Please e-mail your application to, including a brief cover letter, CV, and the names and contact information of two references.
