Researchers at the Johns Hopkins Physical Sciences-Oncology Center examine the combined effects of low oxygen (known as hypoxia) with the structures and forces present in the confined microenvironment where cancer cells first appear inside a tumor and subsequently invade distance organs.

We have developed three inter-related projects, described as Projects 1, 2 and 3.
  • Project 1: The Role of Physical Cues in Collective Cell Invasion
  • Project 2: Forces involved in collective cell migration
  • Project 3: Impact of low oxygen on the migration of sarcoma cells
