Every year, just before Thanksgiving, Johns Hopkins University honors the legacy of former employee Vernon Rice through the Vernon Rice Memorial Turkey Drive. This cherished tradition began as Rice’s personal charity effort in 1976 and now serves many communities surrounding Johns Hopkins University and Medicine.
Johns Hopkins partners with local organizations to identify families in need and provide them with everything needed for a hearty Thanksgiving meal. This annual event embodies the spirit of giving that Vernon Rice championed, continuing his mission of helping our neighbors during the holiday season.
