Nanoparticles from novel porphyrinoid compounds have been prepared via a self-assembly process involving a host-guest solvent mixing strategy. The molecular building blocks, called corrolazines, are ring-contracted forms of porphyrins that exhibit intriguing physical properties and chemical behavior.
