IRES
International Research Experience for Students – Johns Hopkins Institute for NanoBioTechnology now has funding to support several talented Hopkins graduate and undergraduate students to conduct short-term international research in nanobiotechnology.
The International Research Experience for Students (IRES) program, funded by the National Science Foundation allows students to collaborate with researchers from Hopkins and The Inter-University MircroElectronics Centre (IMEC) in Leuven, Belgium. Students work at IMEC’s world-class microfabrication facility and learn to design, fabricate and test chip-based platforms and integrated microelectronic systems for biomedical applications.
Undergraduate students may participate in the summer internship program at IMEC, which lasts from 8-10 weeks. Graduate students may conduct 4-6 week research projects, which may occur at any time of year.
Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply.
The INBT IRES is open to Hopkins undergraduate students who have completed their sophomore year in any science, medical or engineering discipline, as well as Hopkins graduate students in any science, medical or engineering discipline. Students from under-represented racial/minority groups and women in science and engineering are encouraged to apply.
If you know of a student working in your lab, who would be an appropriate fit for this program, please contact Ashanti Edwards at aedwards@jhu.edu or (410) 516-6572 for more information on the application process.
