Summer Academic Research Experience (SARE)

Goal of the program

To provide urban high school youth with a summer experience in which they can improve themselves personally and academically in a significant and quantifiable manner.  This is currently being done through partnerships with like-minded organizations, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Baltimore (BHGH) and The SEED School of Maryland.

To provide urban high school youth with a unique exposure to modern scientific research combined with additional tutoring to help fortify basic and remedial academic skills. The rationale is that many urban youth have not been exposed to environments where creative and critical thinking skills are emphasized.  Research laboratories within top flight research universities are naturally constructed with this type of environment. Therefore, one of the many goals is to leverage this environment and to utilize our science in a new way through outreach to a younger group of students.
